"DEALING WITH CHANGE"
Rituals and some degree of order in our lives comfort us, and yet, we are constantly faced with changes over which we have little control. Some of these rituals and rules of order are comforting guidles for us us. Busting out of long-cherished traditions and habits come hard for me, even (or maybe especially_ when they no longer serve me as well as they once did. Some things and some people just keep changing around me - with my consent or approval. The test for me is to continue modedling an authentic Christian way of life while facing new life events (read: "change") and different people (read: "people who don't agree with me").
To be intentional to such a commitment I have been "forced" to pray for God's gift of discernment as I struggle to determine which traditions are timeless (and there are some important one), and which ones are remnants of a time past that no longer serve a Christian, Kingdom building purpose (and there are some of those too).
Of one thing I am sure--God's message of love for all, to be shared with all. God just keeps on telling me, "I really meant this--'Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, your mind, your strength and your soul. And, love your neighbor as yourself.'"
